Built a quadcopter drone from scratch using spare parts in my school makerspace, including a Raspberry Pi-based control setup and custom integration work.

Build Process

  • Collected spare parts from the makerspace and planned around what was available.
  • Built the frame and integrated motors, electronics, and Raspberry Pi control.
  • Tested the system step by step because flight projects fail quickly when one subsystem is unstable.

What I Learned

  • Learned how sensitive flight systems are to weight, balance, vibration, power delivery, and control timing.
  • Integrated motors, frame structure, electronics, and software into one physical system.
  • Built patience debugging a project where one bad connection can stop the whole system.

Result / Impact

This was one of my most ambitious independent builds because it combined mechanical design, electronics, software, and stability problems.
